Just a little bit crazy

I often feel like I am loosing my mind. I just caught myself in a daze for about 4 minutes trying to figure out how to export a InDesign File, a very routine and simple task that is part of my regular day. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I am super tired and have way too much going on in my life to effectively manage. Still the show must go on. But at the same time, when I am tired I don't stare into space for several minutes when I am brushing my teeth late at night. I think it comes down to not liking my job. Well let me rephrase that. I like what I do, just not the circumstances right now and I will leave it at that for now. So I am often distracted and daydreaming of other things I would rather be doing. Straight off the top of my head I can tell you I would rater be sitting on a high speed quad in Park City getting ready to drop into a nice long powder run with a few drops and some nice big turns in a tree glade overlooking a great view. No, it's not winter anymore, but wish it was. Hanging on a beach would be nice to. I would tell you what I would really love right now is driving at the speed of light in a Lambo across the open road. I tell you what is really loosing my mind right now. The dang gas prices. I pay more for gas then I do for anything else it seems. What kills me is the line at the gas station I go to is always crowded. It is kinda of funny because it seems that people are buying gas like it is a dollar a gallon. They line up on the roard waiting cuz there is no more room in the gas station parking lot. Truth is though that we all know that people are sick of the prices being so high and refuse to spend more anywhere else. What kills me even more is the fact that there are die hard fans of Shell and Chevron that pay close to 25 cents per gallon more right now then anyone else. You morons. Your all dumb. I saw gas for $4.54 yesterday. Not premium. REGULAR! Can you believe that.

On a lighter note, Lost is over and left us hanging of course. John Locke appears to be the dead guy in the coffin and now more questions then ever are left instead of answered. I am looking forward to the next season.

More to come.................

Memorial Day

I don't know about you all but hands down my Mom can be flat out the best entertainment ever. Normally she is pretty mellow and not too colorful, but every now and then the hair comes down and prepare to come dang near to pissing your pants. Yesterday was Memorial Day and we went to my parents for a BBQ. Started out pretty mellow until my brother Nick brought the Wii over to play. My mom got in on the action. Normally she is not into stuff like this but the truth is when she does nothing is funnier ...............NOTHING! Back in the day when Atari 2600 was king. my mom would have a go at Frogger and she would move her body all over like her movements were making the frog move and not the joystick. So the Wii naturally was a good fit for her. We started her on Mario Cart and then went on to Wii Fit Hulu Hoop and then Wii Fit Soccer Goalie. I did not video the first game of mario which was the funniest, but pulled out the vid cam in time to catch the rest. Mom we love you...........

Skating ..........................Still working at it.

So last Friday we went to the a local park after doing some errands and I decided to skate for a few. I am still a little skittish after the broken elbow, but the reality of it all is that I sit at a desk all day and keep adding pounds with every Mountain Dew I guzzle to keep me awake from day to day, so I am a bit jumpy and, and the skating has suffered a wee bit. Most guys 34 cant even get down on all fours to play with their kids so I feel very blessed to be able to still take a bruise for old times sake. Still fun to roll around though.

SRVW

So I am a proud owner of a 03 1.8T Jetta. I also have a 91 which is actually way funner to drive then this thing pictured above. My 91 has sport springs which dropped it about 2 inches and the machine corners like indy car. It needs some love though so it currently is not on the road. Anyway.......one of my favorite planes is the SR-71. I am not really into aircraft that much but this plane is just one of the sickest things to grace the sky. I was on my way home from shooting some photos for a feed company in the north valley and stopped by Castle Airforce Base on the way home. There is a fee to get in and I have not been there since I was a young lad. Fortunately to my suprise the Blackbird is sitting right in front. I pulled the Jetta in front of the thing and fired off a few shots of these two fine machines. of course shot at 2.8 100mm laying on the ground to get that nice angle.

I am an A#!................

Do you ever have one of those days where you really feel like and ass and you said things to your spouse that needed to be said but maybe shouldn't have, or maybe waited another time or even perhaps just flat out leave it alone altogether. Well for me yesterday was one of those days and they seem to happen more then they should. So I want to take this opportunity to publicly say to the three people who read this blog, that I am sorry Heather. My world would not be the same without you. ......................It would be a little less hectic....... but would not want it without you. I need you. I love. I miss you when I am gone.

Guitar fun

My girls and their cousins came over one day and they wanted to make a video so we all went in the backyard and had them play guitar and goof around. It was fun. Here is the result.. Oh yeah this was about a year ago. So Kaylen has no front teeth.

p.s. as always..... pause the music player to watch.

King of LA

I figured I get to do some fun stuff every now and then and I figured why not go back and retro fit this blog with some older stories and what not.

Last summer We all went to my cousins wedding in LA. The day before there was the King of LA comp. in Downtown LA and the community college. We were there about an hour and a half and I got some footage there. Mostly amature skating but some pros where there. Danny Way, Colling McKay were the two well known names. They were not skating but there for autographs and what not. We were hoping to see Rib Dyrdek and Big Black but we had to leave early. Anyway we had fun, my brother Chad came with us. It was good times.

Here is a little vid I put together of the event. Pause the music player on the right if you want to here the video.

A family that rides together stays together.

So as most of you know I am a snowboarder of about 16 years or more now. Nothing can take me from it. My kids now are catching the bug and hopefully we can have the opportunity to go more often in the future. Heather has been excited to learn to but something always seems to get in the way, so this year we are committing to the whole family riding the lift and learning for real. I look forward to the day that Heather and the girls can keep up and we can all go fast and get hurt together. It will be a good day when we all four can drop into East Bowl at Summit and get some first tracks in a foot and a half of fresh on a perfect blue sky day. For now we are learning on the beginner hill and having a great time. Of course the speed limit is limited on the "bunny hill" but I never pay attention to that anyway, but someday the family will be carving big GS turns at 40mph down express. Will be good times for sure. For now we are happy sharing the best breakfast burritos ever at summit and watching the kids have fun.

Official Burton Snowboard Tester

So the head guy from Burton R&D called up a while back and asked me to test some new fangled mini board for the park. I figured sure why not. So I meat them at Summit and grabbed what sure looked like nothing more than a couple lunch trays duct taped together ( yes that is how "duct" tape is spelled). So anyway I take the board up on the hill and begin strapping in. I was hopefull but had my doubts. So did the other kids around me. Take a look at the photo and you'll see what I mean. Anyway if you have not yet figured out the above info is not entirely accurate, well now you know. Truth is that its my daughters board and figured I would give it a whirl. It worked for about 30 feet before toe drag got the better part of my skills. But with 5 inches of toe drag it was inevitable.

Redneck Ingenuity

So I saw this and had to comment on it. Hands down I have to admit I love redneck ingenuity. I am sure the story on this one goes something like this:

"Hey sugar hips, come here a sec, I got and idea."
"what do you want earl"
"Well, I was thinking we should open a Vegas style high-rise theamed motel with all these extra trailers laying around."
"Hot damn! That is a great idea, Lets do it!

Broken Elbow Update

So.............Anyone who knows me knows I have a dangerous life. I am a secret agent, chase bad guys down in south-east Fresno, attempt to clean my kids room, etc., etc. However the real danger we all know is my habitual nature to throw myself off of perfectly good cliffs and spin recklessly through the air on my snowboard. I am not quite as daring as I once was, and never would claim to be a master of the skateboard, more of a recreational user. They have therapy groups for guys like me: old skaters anonymous.

So one day about 12 weeks ago,I am on the way home from Modesto out taking photos, and I was passing through Madera when I noticed the skate park there starring me right in the face. Well it just so happens that the park is more like a park of the 70's then a modern cement paradise. I also conveniently had my gear in the trunk. So I pulled off the road to get a quick 10 minute session. Sure enough about 10 minutes later I ate it really hard when in all reality I was not doing anything crazy. I was barely rolling. Wish I could say I was was setting the bar for Tony Hawk and Shawn White but such was not the case.

So I figured I was only bruised real bad and I was ok. I get home and told Heather I fell and that I am alright. Well about 30-45 minutes later I was like; "Heather, I think I need to go to the Hospital." So off we go. Now here is where is gets interesting. I was already in the hospital earlier that day with my daughter Kaylen who was having some asthma probs and her doctors office was closed. So I sat in the ER yet again for a second time that day, waiting in terrible pain. After about a day later or so the guy comes in and says yeah you got a broken elbow. So sucks to be me.

All in all after a visit to the ortho I learned that my arm did not need surgery. My boss yelled at me, which is funny because technically he is not my boss as I am a 1099 contractor, anyway regardless the guy never said sorry hope all is well or nothing. Anyway...........12 weeks later I am fine and healed up well, minus the scar tissue, which still makes some tasks hard to accomplish. I am in the gym as often as time allows to do some self therapy on it and the arm is getting better each week. But the cool thing is and fact remains, that even with the broken elbow, I can still ride better than most so even for an older guy and will be back on the board soon.
